Therapeutic Exercise
What is Therapeutic Exercise?
Therapeutic exercises are physical exercises and movements performed to aid in recovery and healing and improve strength while decreasing pain. Therapeutic exercise may include range of motion exercises, resistive exercise, balance and strength training, or aerobic conditioning, depending on the type of injury or condition. Therapeutic exercise may also be combined with other types of therapy.
What are the Benefits of Therapeutic Exercise?
Reduces Pain
Increases Range of Motion
Strengthens Injured Area
Therapeutic exercises have several benefits, from pain reduction to increased wellness. Depending on your injury or condition, therapeutic exercise can help strengthen the injured area, limiting pain or discomfort and lessening the dependence on pain medication. Through therapeutic exercise, you can also increase your range of motion and improve the strength of your overall body. This will help to reduce the risk of reinjury and lead to increased mood and energy levels.
How do Therapeutic Exercises Work?
Therapeutic exercise involves physical activities and movements to correct impairments or restore function. Therapeutic exercises include strengthening and endurance exercises, flexibility exercises, and balance and coordination exercises. Depending on your treatment needs and the stage of healing, your therapeutic exercise plan could include aerobic conditioning, breathing exercises, coordination and developmental activities, or resistance and flexibility training. It may be combined with other types of therapy. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan of therapeutic exercises to aid in your recovery and healing and teach you the proper technique for each movement.
